MINUTES OF JANUARY 17, 2017 WPA BOARD MEETING
Call to Order: Jacky Walton at 7:03 p.m.
Present: Jacky Walton, Bob Garrison, Adam Anderson, Janine Cline, Peggy Phillips, Inge Ebert, Keith Johnson, John Walton and Larry McMillan
Quorum: Yes
Approve: Minutes of December 20, 2016, Motion made by Inge, Seconded by Bob, all approved – motion carried.
Officer Reports:
President – None
Vice President: Thanks to all who volunteered their time to make Wedgefield a better place. Bob stated that he believes that Wedgefield is much more stable that it was six or seven years ago due to the positive attitude of the community.
Secretary – Thanked all who helped with the road clean-up.
Treasurer – 23% of the 2017 Assessments have been received. Operating Account had a year- end balance of $78,523. Edward Jones $58,352, South Atlantic $113,685; and, TD Bank
$129,481 for total reserves of $301,518.
Committees:
ARC – Keith Johnson made a Motion to nominate Steve Vasey, Bob Garrison, Jacky Walton and Al DeMarchi to the ARC Committee. Seconded by Janine Cline, Motion carried.
Keith also stated that he is going to put something in the Wragg about storage buildings, which seems to be the biggest problem right now.
Legal – The legal committee is continuing to follow the events related to the sale of the golf course. We have requested that our attorney monitor the situation.
Finance: Peggy Phillips made a Motion to approve James Young as the CPA for WPA, Bob Garrison seconded – all approved motion carried.
Communications: The Wragg will go out this week.
Community Liaison: He has received no letters this past month.
Welcome Committee: No meetings with new residents this past month.
Drainage: We have not yet started on the two projects we have, but hope to get them going by next month.
Water Amenities: Regarding the boat landing, everything in the area seems to be in good shape, but additional slag needs to be brought in to replenish the road and landing area before the boating season begins. Larry would like to hold off having the slag spread before he gets trees cleared.
Dredging: The committee has now raised $18,200, the amount of money needed to proceed with Phase I of this project. John made a Motion for the WPA to officially commit the canal reserves for the dredging. Bob Garrison seconded. After a very lengthy discussion the
motion to amended to read that the “Motion that the WPA officially commit to spending the canal
reserve funds up to ⅓ of the total cost of the dredging, this would be contingent on the canal lot owners raising the rest of the needed funds.” Motion carried.
Waiting for quotes for licensed bonded companies for a controlled burn of the spoil site.
Condo Liaison: Inge Ebert – no report
Roads : Adam Anderson – working on sign project for entire plantation. He will proceed with the getting bids.
Grounds: Larry McMillan – Date for new contract is March 1, 2107. We need work on the irrigation system and need to contact someone who specializes in that.
