Officer Reports
Presidents Report: Jacky Walton congratulated the new board members. He reminded the Board to list their committee members as all need to be approved by the Board. Thanks to all who participated in the tree lighting. Also, the article in the South Strand newspaper created a positive picture for the Wedgefield community.
Vice President’s Report: Bob congratulated the new board members. He also mentioned the planned work on creating a new website or improving the present website. The Board is looking into a programmable sign that would eliminate all the individual signs that are placed out and around the office to announce events and meetings. Bob mentioned that there is a clean-up scheduled for Friday of this week.
Secretary’s Report: At the annual meeting in November there was criticism about the poor use of the WPA website. Since that time, I have been diligently working with the office secretary to update and define information that is available for posting. The updated version of the Policy Manual is now available on the website. The office copy of the Policy Manual has continuously been updated and available to any resident who wishes to view it. Articles of interest to the community will be posted when received. No offensive or controversial issues will be allowed. The Christmas tree lighting ceremony was posted along with photos of the event. We are researching the possibility of again making our website partially password protected to allow sensitive data such as finances to be posted. We are currently obtaining pricing for this service.
We have researched numerous websites for information about the possibility of purchasing a digital scrolling lighted sign. For example, this type of sign is used by some local churches on
Fraser Street. I hope to make a formal presentation to the Board at the January meeting concerning this issue.
Treasurer’s Report: On November 30, 2017, South State Operating Account had a balance of
$53,083.41. Our Reserve Account balances totaled $504,448.62 and the interested earned during the month of November was $111.92. Peggy mentioned that she is researching contracting a CPA who is in closer proximity than the one we have now who is in Charlotte and many times it takes days for him to get back to us.
Committees Reports
ARC: No report.
Legal: We received the keys and policy manuals from the outgoing board members and gave them to incoming Board Members. All new and existing Board Members have signed the necessary documents. Bob made a Motion for Jacky Walton, Butch Williams and Adam Anderson to be on the Legal Committee, John Walton seconded and Motion passed.
Finance: Assessments will be mailed out during the last week of December, according to the Policy.
Peggy made a motion to Bob Buice, Jacky Walton, Larry McMillin and Bob Garrison to the Finance Committee, seconded by John Walton, Motion passed.
Peggy made a motion to give a $100 Christmas bonus to Lee Cote and Kathy Browy, seconded by Bob Garrison, Motion passed.
Communications: No report.
Community Liaison: We had the following letters this month: (1) a complaint about residents not picking up after their dogs on King George; (2) a complaint about a boat being stored on a vacant lot on John Greene; and, (3) a concern about a possible drainage issue on Patriots Court.
Welcome Committee: Butch stated he has to set up meeting with Ms. Inga to go over her process. We have two new members to the Wedgefield Community, John McCants at 461 Joanna Guillard and Ken and Florence Odgers at 512 Francis Parker.
Drainage; Steve had no report, but Jacky mentioned that prior to the switch over of committee members they had a situation with a drainage issue with two properties, lots 490 and 491.
Letters have been sent out to the lot owners and we have received one response. We will scheduled a meeting after the first of the year and bring Steve up to speed on the issue.
Water Amenities:
John Walton made a Motion to add Adam Anderson, Chris Carroll, James Cristello, Keith Johnson, Larry McMillin, Steve Vasey and Ed Wozniak to the Water Amenities Committee.
Condo Liaison: Steve is going to check and make sure that the light post that was ordered has been installed in the correct location.
Roads: We did a poll during the election this year asking everyone’s input on the speed bump issue. The results were essentially equal numbers for and against. We were hoping it would be more one sided towards one position or the other but that is not the case, clearly the plantation is divided on this issue. Once the committee re-groups we will continue to explore and discuss this.
Adam made a Motion to appoint Anne Hearthneck to the Roads Committee.
Grounds: There is only one issue to address at this time. As we all know, the luminary production for Christmas Eve is fast approaching. The sand has been brought to the office parking lot and the candles are available in the office for free. The milk container are stored at various locations and will be made readily available to anyone who requests them.
Since I am recovering from surgery, I am asking the community to please step up and make this a successful event in my absence.
Larry made a Motion to nominate Dale Hayman, Steve Vasey, Bob and Nina McMahan and Peggy Phillips to the Grounds Committee seconded by John Walton, Motion passed.

Old Business: None
New Business: Bob made a Motion to investigate the cost to review the Reserve Study that was done in 2013, seconded by Steve Vasey, Motion passed.
Jacky made a Motion to form a Website Committee, seconded by Bob Garrison, Motion passed. Jacky also added a motion to add Madeleine Claveloux to the website committee, seconded by Bob G. and Motion passed.
Public Comments
Sam Tanner of 48 Duck Pond had questions regarding what to do about the trees that are down near his property that are blocking the water from running into the brook.
Randy Vaughn mentioned regarding the Reserve study that 40% of the streets are off on the high side when you review the cross-section area. The square footage is wrong.
Connie Downs mentioned that the September 19th Minutes have not been approved.
Randy Vaughn suggested that the Wragg list all committee members. If there are complaints, we should know who they are. Jacky explained that if there are complaints, the complaints should come to the office and then we send that out to the appropriate people.
Butch Williams commented on the developments made on the golf course. Meeting adjourned at 8 pm
