WPA OPEN BOARD MEETING MINUTES

December 20, 2016

 

Call to Order: Jacky Walton

Attendees: Jacky Walton, Inge Ebert, Peggy Phillips, Adam Anderson, Larry McMillan, John Walton

Absent: Janine Cline, Bob Garrison and Keith Johnson Quorum: Yes (Peggy Phillips)

Jacky Walton called the meeting to order and introduced the 2017 Board of Directors.

John Walton made a motion to approve the October 6th closed meeting minutes. Inge Ebert seconded, motion passed

John Walton made a motion to approve the October 19, 2016 minutes, Inge Ebert seconded, motion passed.

Inge Ebert made a motion to approve the November 17, 2016 minutes, John Walton seconded, motion passed.

Presidents Report: Jacky Walton thanked everyone who submitted to run for the Board and if they did not get voted in, he urged them to try again in the future. He also thanked all the volunteers who work with the Board of Directors as committees and hopes that we get some new volunteers. Election results were that Jacky, Bob and Peggy were voted in for 3 year terms and Keith for a 2 year term.

Vice President: Absent, but sent in a report detailing an email he received from the Mr. Wolfe, the golf course bank-owner regarding the golf course.

Secretary’s Report: None

Treasurer’s Report: Peggy updated all reserve balances to $301,494.83. Interest earned last month was $51.04.

Committee Reports

ARC: – No report

Legal: Bob requested that the board approve appointing Jackie Walton and Adam Anderson to the legal committee. Jacky Walton made the motion, Inge Ebert seconded. Motion passed.

Finance: Peggy stated that assessments will be mailed the last week in December per policy. Peggy made a motion to appoint Bob Garrison, Al DeMarchi and Sue Hastings to the Finance Committee for 2017. John Walton seconded the motion. Motion passed

Communications: No report

 

Community Liaison: We received letters this month, one regarding sale of golf course sale, one regarding someone riding an ATV on the golf course property and several letters concerning the door to door peddlers selling cleaning products.

Welcome Committee: Inge reported that she sent cards to two new families this month. She made a motion to appoint Vivian Segelken to the Welcome Committee, John Walton seconded. Motion passed.

Drainage:     We do have a couple of problems that we will be addressing after the holidays, Wedgefield Village road floods out, so we have to look into that. Also, a lot sold on Joanne Guillard was found to have a drainage pipe running diagonally across property which makes it unbuildable. Need to look into that. Motion made to approve Al DiMarchi to Drainage Committee, Inge Ebert seconded, motion passed. Jacky mentioned he would like to get a couple more on the committee

Water Amenities: John made a motion to have Adam Anderson, Chris Carroll, James Cristello, Keith Johnson, Larry McMillin and Ed Wozniak as committee members. The boat landing suffered some storm damage from hurricane Matthew. We are currently seeking bids to have this work completed. The committee has collected $17,800 toward a goal of $20,000 to begin Phase 1 of the project. Several canal lot owners have pledged to contribute after the holidays. We should have enough to be able to enter into a contract in January..John made a motion, Inge seconded for a controlled burn on the Spoil Site. After discussion, motion tabled until next month’s meeting.

Condo Liaison: Inge reported some parking problems, but they are being taken care of

Roads: Working on a plan to replace all of the signage in Wedgefield. Adam is looking for volunteers to his committee.

Grounds: Details of the storm cleanup were given. Total cost of cleanup was $63,910. Volunteers are helping with luminaries. Motion made to appoint Peggy Phillips, Bob McMahan, Neena McMahan and Steve Vassey to the Committee, John Walton seconded. Motion passed.

Compliance: Motion made to appoint Peggy Phillips to the Committee, John Walton seconded. Motion passed.

No Old Business No New Business

One comment regarding the legality of solicitation in Wedgefield. Jacky Walton spoke with Sheriff and he stated that in order to enforce the sign, we have to go through the County Council. The sheriff cannot enforce as long as they have a county-wide permit.
